Improving Community Health & Well-Being

HOPE coordinates the activities of five collaborating units across the University of Missouri School of Medicine, Sinclair School of Nursing, College of Health Sciences, and MU Extension involved in telehealth, health policy, medical education in rural Missouri, health outreach, and health professionals’ continuing education. The HOPE mission is to improve the health and well-being of Missourians at every stage of life through education, innovation, collaboration, and leadership.

HOPE's Impact

HOPE is uniquely situated to provide a force multiplier impact on improving the health and well-being of Missourians through shared resources and expertise and is poised to assist in translating research into practice through the MU Extension infrastructure, existing partnerships, and community engagement.

Over the past three years, the HOPE units have collectively leveraged $30M in new grants and contracts and established 160 collaborations, partnerships, and initiatives encompassing national, state, and community-based groups to address a wide range of identified health needs. HOPE leaders view their ideal collaboration as a cross-disciplinary practice that makes work easier, of higher quality, and of a greater impact.

HOPE is a valued partnership strategically connected to the community. Through this partnership, the university strives to identify community health issues and work to ensure initiatives are focused on the whole person.
