Purpose

The purpose of the HealthyWeightMO.org website is to equip healthcare professionals to effectively and compassionately provide care for patients with obesity.

Established in 2018, the purpose of the Healthy Weight Advisory Committee (HWAC) is to provide expertise and advice to advance and monitor collaborative, sustainable, evidence-based strategies for increasing the number of children at a healthy weight in Missouri. More recently, HWAC merged with MOCAN’s healthcare workgroup to expand strategies for healthcare professionals working with children and adults. Built through a partnership with the Office of Health Outreach, Policy and Education (HOPE), both of which are housed within MU Extension, HealthyWeightMo.org will bring training, resources, and networking opportunities to healthcare professionals and eventually to patients and families.
